About the Director
Sheryll Franko is an award-winning artist and documentary filmmaker living and working between New York City and Europe. Her creative bureau, Falling Awake Productions, produces media committed to changing social consciousness on pressing, modern topics. Sheryll was recently honored as a 2011 Film Fellow by the Moving Picture Institute. With funding from the Moving Picture Institute, Sheryll produced a short documentary titled Two Worlds, One Goal (currently in post-production), which examines how the youth generation of the Middle East is expressing themselves in the midst of a rapidly changing, revolution-inspired environment. In 2008, Sheryll filmed in the Netherlands for her short mental health documentary, Crazy Enough to Care, which earned an Honorable Mention at the 2009 SAMHSA Voice Awards in Hollywood. Sheryll's endeavors have taken her professionally across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Sheryll has studied at The New School, The City University of New York, and Vassar College. She is conversant in Mandarin and Yiddish.
